03-03-08 MLK Montessori School Welcomes a New Director March 2008!
The MLK Montessori School Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Roberta ‘Bobbie’ Golani is the new Executive Director beginning March 3, 2008. Mrs. Golani hails from Michigan with a Bachelors of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Oakland University in Michigan, and a Masters in Social Work from Wayne State University. Her knowledge of early childhood education, mental health, and program administration will only benefit MLKMS children and families. Mrs. Golani and her husband recently moved to Fort Wayne. Welcome Mrs. Golani to Fort Wayne and to our school!
Our former director, Mary Musson has moved on as an instructor at IVY Tech Community College in Fort Wayne. Thanks to Mrs. Musson for her 2 years of vision & leadership at MLKMS & good luck in the future.

Martin Luther King Montessori School has announced the officers for the 2007-08 board of directors: Tammy Wells and Chris Douse, co-presidents; Rob Kruger, vice president; Susan Berghoff, treasurer; and Patty Schrimper, secretary. Mary Musson is the new director of the MLK Montessori School, and Martha Booker is assistant director.
08-12-07 Auction at School Bittersweet
The hallways and classrooms of Martin Luther King Montessori School were bustling with activity – probably for the last time.
Dozens of people packed the school at 333 W. Lewis St. on Saturday for a liquidation auction, bidding on everything from toys, mop buckets, playground equipment, refrigerators and a fish tank. Prices varied on the items being auctioned. Some people made off with bargains, paying $25 to $30 for wood shelves, cabinets and electronics.

07-27-07 Montessori Says Farewell
Teachers and students at Martin Luther King Montessori School could see the heavy equipment in the distance Thursday, knowing their building would soon be at its mercy.
The equipment was about a block away, there to demolish Belmont Liquor Store to make way for the Harrison Square project. The downtown Montessori will meet the same fate in about a month to clear a city block for the downtown improvement project that includes a city-owned baseball stadium, a Courtyard by Marriott hotel with parking garage, retail shops and condominiums.

05-16-07 New Site for MLK 'is Perfect'
King Montessori School stays in its current location downtown, students will have to put on their baseball gloves and get ready to catch fly balls.
The school, at the corner of Lewis and Webster streets, is where right field is scheduled to be as part of a downtown baseball stadium. But officials are hoping that an agreement can be reached with East Allen County Schools to lease classroom space at Village Elementary School.
