Always Seeking to Improve
Martin Luther King Montessori School continues to strive toward excellence in education. The following outlines tools and indicators that reveal our strengths.
- We carefully review our Family Feedback surveys to monitor our strengths and improve upon our weaknesses.
- Our community assessment profiles our school’s position in the community and whether we are reaching those needs of our services.
- We are accredited by the National Association of the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
- MLK Montessori School is a Paths to Quality Level IV provider in Fort Wayne, Allen County.
- MLK Montessori School teachers have completed the Montessori Certification course work and will be certified in 2008.
- MLK Montessori School teachers and assistant teachers will continue to further their post-secondary education to meet the NAEYC accreditation guidelines and timelines.
- The children who graduate from MLK Montessori School are prepared for a lifetime of learning, and on their way to being future leaders of our community.
MLK Montessori School operates on the principle that our children are the greatest assets. To invest in society’s youngest segment, giving all children an understanding of what it means to dream and develop their skills to achieve those dreams is to invest in the future. For every $1 spent on early childhood education, states save $7 in the criminal justice system, special education and welfare. Our goal is to allow preschoolers from low-income, at-risk families to realize the benefits of education. Ninety-two percent of MLK Montessori School students are part of a minority population, many receiving few positive educational experiences outside the classroom. The environment at MLK Montessori School allows the children to develop the necessary skills to favorably compare with their kindergarten peers from advantaged environments academically, socially, and developmentally. By involving parents in their child’s education, MLKMS strives to motivate the entire family to seek knowledge and growth.
