Dreams Can Come True…Because of You!
Dear Friend:
If ever in need of the definition of diversity, don’t bother reaching for a dictionary. Instead travel to a place founded in the wake of Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassination. A place where children of all racial, ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds play and learn together. A place where Dr. King’s dream of equal education for all Americans lives on.
Martin Luther King Montessori School (“MLKMS”) is one of a few Montessori schools in the United States that offer a quality Montessori education to low-income families at an affordable cost. Further distinguishing MLKMS from other preschools is our variety of comprehensive services including a health program, door-to-door transportation in our buses, a federal food and nutrition program, family services, and a before and after care program, just to name a few. Since our start in 1968, MLKMS has provided over 5,000 children in our community with much more than an academic jumpstart for kindergarten. Representing humanness in all its forms, the students who pass through our halls are encouraged to embrace a diverse world and a brighter future.
Over the years, our school has expanded to serve the ever-growing needs of our community and until recently included three sites in different parts of the city that we shared with host organizations. Thanks to a generous $1.6 million grant from the Lincoln Financial Group Foundation, MLKMS took ownership and management of Great Beginnings Child Development Center at 333 W. Lewis Street. Then, the City of Fort Wayne purchased the site for the new downtown ballpark, and MLKMS moved to East Allen County Schools, leasing space at Village Elementary School
We seek your support as we launch a $1 million campaign to improve programming and student scholarship offerings and to upgrade the Lewis Street facility. Your individual, corporate and employee donations and matching gifts will give us a place we can call our own. Most importantly, it will strengthen the academic foundation our students need to become productive, successful citizens.
To all of you who provide help to MLKMS, we extend our most sincere appreciation. It is through your generosity that the dreams of our students can become a reality. Your gifts and support in every way are a reflection of your love for our community and your commitment to the education and future of all our chlordane.
Sincerely,
