Life's most persistent and urgent question is, “What are you doing for others?”
Martin Luther King, Jr.
Thank you for bringing in treats to share with our class for our Valentine’s Day Party. We were able to save some of the cookies to use on Thursday for afternoon snack. I know the children sure enjoyed the extra treats.
This week we worked hard on math concepts. We worked on creating math patterns. We reviewed the ABAB (red, blue, red, blue,) pattern, and I introduced the ABCABC (yellow, green, pink, yellow, green, pink) pattern. Finally, we worked on the ABBABB (boy, girl, girl, boy, girl, girl) pattern. We also got a chance to sort out our conversational hearts and graph them. We talked about how each of the colors they had, which color they had the most and which color they had the least. Also, they had to tell me how they came up with that answer. You do not need anything special to practice this at home. You can use silverware, coins, deck of playing cards etc… Your child would love to show you what they can do! Also, we have been working on our 1-100 number chart. If you would like a number chart for home please let me know and I can get a copy of one for you.
This coming week will be dedicated to letters and sounds. We will continue working with the alphabet and introduce a new letter every other day or so. Look for homework to come home and that would help you know what letter we are working on. I will also send home a list of sight words for my friends who are going to kindergarten next year.
We will continue to write in our journals on a daily basis and I hope you have seen some improvement with their writing. Encourage them to practice their writing at home. If you would like a copy of the alphabet writing formation chart please let me know.
