MLK Students Celebrate Week of the Young Child with Class Art Projects

The Week of the Young Child™ is an annual celebration hosted by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) celebrating early learning, young children, their teachers and families.  Activities include:

Music Monday
Sing, dance, celebrate, and learn

Tasty Tuesday
Healthy eating and fitness

Work Together Wednesday
Work together, build together, learn together

Artsy Thursday
Think, problem solve, create

Here are some of the creations our kids made:

On #ArtsyThursday we celebrated the joy and learning children experience when engaging in creative art making. Children develop creativity, social skills and fine motor skills with open-ended art projects where they can make choices, use their imaginations, and create with their hands. #woyc17

TRY THIS AT HOME: Bring art outdoors! Offer dark and light paper, chalk and pastels, and suggest children create their own versions of the day and night sky!

Self-confidence, social skills, academic development, and independence—MLK Montessori’s free tuition program gives our students the inspiring preschool education every child deserves. Yet many of their peers don’t have such an opportunity. This April — #monthoftheyoungchild, consider helping children in poverty right here in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with a donation to our 100% nonprofit school. www.mlkdreamschool.org/donate
